The psychological effects of nitrous oxide are concentration-dependent. High levels tend to induce insensibility as well as analgesia. Modest doses induce euphoria and merriment. Sensitivity to inner feelings and thoughts and feelings may sometimes be heightened, especially in poets and philosophers.
